dumb question but is claude an actual robot or just a program on a server somewhere

ok so ive been using it a few weeks and i keep picturing like a thing thinking on the other end lol. is there an actual robot or is it just software running on a computer somewhere. i think its just a program but the way it talks back makes me second guess, could be wrong. sorry if this is a stupid thing to ask 😅
