everyone says used 3090 for a home box, im not convinced its the value pick anymore
the consensus here is 3090 24gb = the move and i keep seeing it repeated but nobody prices in the power draw or that youre buying a 3 gen old card with unknown mining history. for a 30b at q4 a 3060 12gb pair or a single 4060ti 16gb gets you close for less heat. whats your actual tok/s on a 3090 running a 30b, real numbers not the ebay listing
whats the biggest model you actually want to run though, thats the whole question. 3090 only wins if you need the 24gb for 30b+. if 8b is enough a 3060 12gb is half the price and runs cool. also whats your source that its a bad value now, prices in my area actually dropped last month
i run local on a old gaming pc so this one i can answer. 3090 only make sense if you truly need the 24gb, like 30b and up. for me the power draw was the real killer, in summer the room become a sauna and my bill jumped. if 8b is enough for you the 3060 is much calmer choice, result is not so different for daily use)
ok the 3090 math broke for me too honestly. used prices never dropped like everyone kept promising and the power draw is real, mine spikes hard enough i had to sort the psu out before it stopped tripping. still runs a 30b q4 fine but its not the slam dunk value pick people keep repeating. what are you actually planning to run on it, that changes the answer a lot
