worth running a local model at home in 2026 or just pay the $20 and move on
keep going back and forth on this. is running a local model at home actually worth it for a hobbyist right now, or do i just pay for a subscription and stop fighting it. i have a 4090 sitting here doing nothing. whats the honest tradeoff besides my data staying home, because the quality gap feels real

whats your hardware and what tok/s are you actually getting locally though. every "just run local" post skips the number that matters. source on it being worth it for you specifically?
