chatgpt vs claude for writing - which one in 2026

been using chatgpt free for a couple months and it's pretty good for helping me write emails and stuff but everyone keeps saying claude is better for writing?? is it actually worth switching or is it basically the same thing. i don't code or anything just want help with normal writing tasks

sonnet 5 for sure. chatgpt is fine but it's way more generic. claude actually sounds like a person wrote it if you tell it to tone down the formality

agree with this - sonnet 5 is way better for anything where you want it to sound human. chatgpt always does this thing where every paragraph starts with a topic sentence and ends with a transition. drives me crazy. iirc sonnet 5 is also better at following tone instructions but could be wrong

agree with this 1. sonnet 5 sounds way more human 2. chatgpt always does that corporate linkedin voice thing

+1 on the linkedin voice thing. chatgpt sounds like someone trying to sell you a productivity course in every response

+1 need to know this too. is the $200 tier just for insane power users or does it unlock anything new

ok so the $200 is just for people using it all day every day not new features. got it
